Collapse of 3 buildings in Marseille France results in Algerian death
Sad news for the Algerian people. We responded moments ago from France. The French authorities announced this morning.
There was a collapse in Marseille, and there were no losses, but the rescue teams soon found that there were people inside that building.
After hours of searching, eight persons were exhumed, including the body of an Algerian expatriate, and the other injured.
As the Marseille Prosecutor General "Dominique Lawrence" has confirmed, the cause of the explosion is not yet known, but has caused significant losses.
The French authorities therefore evacuated the population from some 30 buildings in the area, and the French official confirmed at a press conference.
The collapse caused a fire, complicating rescue efforts and investigations, adding that fire control efforts have not yet been successful.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmannan, who visited the disaster site hours later was accompanied by the Housing Minister and some other officials.
