The United States of America Department's report on the human rights situation in the past year shows numerous human rights violations in Algeria, including torture, inhumane treatment, and arbitrary detention, noting in particular the violations committed against the movement for self-determination in the Kabyle region.

This was confirmed by the official document issued by the international human rights body by misclassifying the Algerian government of the Amazigh separatist group, the Mac as a terrorist group, which gave the government additional legal tools to prosecute political opponents belonging to the Mac at home and abroad, led by Ferhat Mehenni, who is currently in France.

This official report confirms that Algeria held a referendum to promulgate a new constitution on restrictions on freedom of assembly and association as well as restrictions on the activities of political parties that impeded the activity of opposition groups in Algeria and Western Sahara

What have human rights done with Algeria because of France and Amira Bouraoui?

This official document also indicates that important human rights issues included reliable reports of torture, cruel and inhumane treatment and punishment by members of the Algerian authorities, as well as arbitrary arrests and detentions of some political prisoners for cross-border repression against individuals in another country in an attempt to reduce

One of the serious problems for the country and for the independence of the Algerian judiciary is the illegal interference with privacy, and the severe restrictions that have been imposed on freedom of expression and the media in Algeria and abroad, including unjustified arrests and prosecutions of journalists and political activists, and this is what we witnessed in the case of Amira Bouraoui, which caused concern and chaos. great over the past weeks

This official document also refers to serious restrictions on Internet freedom in Algeria and the fight against all social media that citizens use to express their demands and opinions, and significant interference with freedom of peaceful assembly, association and institutions, including overly restrictive laws that have been put in place directly on organizing financing or operating non-governmental organizations and civil society in Algeria, severe restrictions on religious freedom and religious institutions as well as some clerics in Algeria, restrictions on the right to leave Algeria, especially to France, Spain and some European countries, and the forced return of refugees to a country where their life and freedom are threatened at any time.

The official document issued by Human Rights confirms that the impunity enjoyed by the Algerian police and security forces has been a problem in Algeria, adding that many disappearances have been reported amid mysterious circumstances during the past months, which condemns the Algerian government and its poor commitment to the security and lives of citizens.

How did the United States intervene against Algeria in the Human Rights Report?

And according to what was confirmed by the official report issued by the International Human Rights Organization, the conditions of prisons in Algeria are currently harsh, and are likely to be life-threatening due to physical abuse and insufficient medical care for citizens in Algeria, and that some human rights organizations have attributed overcrowding in detention centers to The continued excessive use of pre-trial detention and habeas corpus before the Algerian judiciary.

The official document also stated that the Algerian government had increasingly used pretrial detention against many citizens and activists in response to the Hirak Algeria movement since 2019, and this excessive pretrial detention remained a problem during the past year and still is, noting that the security forces in Algeria It regularly arrested people who participated in Algeria's unauthorized demonstrations or were critical of the Algerian government and regime, including Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Algerian authorities have also used vaguely word provisions that would criminalize incitement to unarmed assembly, undermining national unity, spreading false news, or insulting a government agency to arrest and detain people they consider disruptive of public order or critical of the Algerian government.

In turn, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated in a recent press statement that refugees and migrants using the land routes to and through Algeria continue to be at risk of death, kidnapping, sexual and gender-based violence, physical abuse and other violence by the Algerian government and security personnel.

According to reports and security sources, 130 refugees who were recently expelled from Algeria reported cases of human rights violations during their arrest and detention in Algerian prisons, including the physical and verbal violence they were subjected to. Therefore, US diplomacy confirms that it is currently seeking to impose international sanctions on Algeria to deter such gross violations.
