Hurricane Hillary is rapidly strengthening in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico on Thursday and is on track to deliver rain and potential flooding to parts of the southwest as a weaker system begins this weekend.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center warned that Hillary is expected to grow into a major hurricane later today and could reach Category 4 hurricane strength with winds of at least 130 mph.
The hurricane was about 500 miles southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Thursday afternoon, bringing maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
