Good people of Algeria announced by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune yesterday evening, in press statements.

He emphasized the consent of Russia and China to Algeria's entry into the BRICS, which would help Algeria increase economic development more than that of international financial bodies.

Russia is also increasing pressure on Europeans to formally approve Algeria's accession to this international group, as it has done before with Iran and others.

Reason for Algeria accession to the BRICS Group

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed that, after completing the necessary procedures and conditions, Russia and China had requested Algeria to join this international group.

That is what prompted Algeria to actually advance the file of joining the BRICS group, which will fund our projects and enter their bloc, and we will be united with each other politically, economically and even militarily.

Because this international group aims to increase their economic relations in local currencies, it reduces reliance on the dollar worldwide.

The Algerian President considers that joining the Group will help it in development more than international financial bodies.

What is the benefit of Algeria accession to BRICS with Russia and China?

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune considered that his country's accession to the BRICS Group would help it in development, more than international financial bodies.

"The BRICS Bank contains $100 billion, more than the World Bank," Tebboune added during his regular meeting on Saturday with representatives of some national media organizations, while overseeing Algeria's celebration on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

President Tebboune continued: "The BRICS Group will fund our projects and we will enter their bloc, and we will be united with each other politically."

The Algerian President noted that the States of China, Russia, South Africa and Brazil had agreed to Algeria's accession to the BRICS group.

Russia forces EU to approve Algeria's accession to BRICS

On 22 December 2022, Tebboune had told the media that "Algeria was officially close to joining the BRICS bloc", stressing that the Group States would not be reluctant to grant Algeria full membership, and that they had the consent of Russia.

Earlier, Russia supported the accession of Iran and Argentina to BRICS after they applied.

In September 2022, the Russian Ambassador to Algeria, Valerian Chauvaev, confirmed that his country was not opposed to Algeria's accession to the BRICS, after the necessary procedures and conditions had been completed.

The BRICS is a conglomerate of Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa and India, founded in 2006, at a summit hosted by the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, and renamed "BRIC" to "BRICS" in 2011, following South Africa's accession.

This international group aims to increase their economic relations in domestic currencies, thereby reducing dependence on the dollar.
